Really, seriously, I don’t understand how to use the SmartLabel Lab and I’m supposed to be a Google Apps Expert.
I’ve created a video to demonstrate how unsuccessful I was at using this lab to prioritize my messages.
Watchers, readers, gmail fanatics, are you using this lab, and if so, how are you using it?
follow:
The mistake you are making is that you are editing the filters but instead you should be using the Reply dropdown to “Report Miscategorization”.
When you have the email *open* click on the *Reply dropdown*, then “Report Miscategorization”. Then you will see some options.
I understand your confusion about the description, however you totally missed this part:
“Report mis-categorized email from the ‘Reply’ dropdown menu.”
Although I have not used SmartLabels yet I think you are only supposed to be modifying the filters if you want to change the default action of the filter (i.e. – Skip Inbox). But if you want to modify WHAT the filters are catching you need to use the Reply dropdown.
Thanks for the tips. We just migrated to Google Apps so I think I will be checking your Blog quite often:-)
Hope this helps!
Mycah – Thanks for your comment. I just saw that “miscategorization” action item the other day. Now the pieces have come together! Good luck with your Google Apps implementation and feel free to holler if you have any questions.
